We were informed of the following issue/case by MDDB Selangor:-
Dear people, Journalists play a very important role in forming public perception and false reporting can create unfair and unwarranted perception amongst the masses. Given this, the report by Harian Metro’s Junaidi Ladjana that a boy was killed by his family’s pet dog is both malicious and probably reflects his bias against man’s best friend. This article is enough to get some people worked-up and demand the authorities to go on a dog killing spree. Please write to Junaidi Ladjana at: djuns@hmetro.com.my and cc the message to Harian Metro’s chief news editor Tuan Mohd Asri Tuan Hussein at: asri@hmetro.com.my
In response to this, MDDB & MCCP Northern has jumped into action immediately and wrote an email directed to the people concerned. We simply could not bear to see more animals put into unnecessary sufferings due to human's error. This is just not tolerable. It's unethical for the journalist to publish an article without even confirming the authenticity of the facts.
Our email to the culprit and the Chief News Editor of Harian Metro as per below:-
To Junaidi Ladjana,
We, on behalf of Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better & Malaysian Cats Care Project of Northern Region would like to critize you on your irresponsible reporting on the case reported by you in myMetro entitled "Dibaham anjing" - http://www.hmetro.com.my/articles/Dibahamanjing/ Article/. The publication from Berita Harian, entitled "Bukan kena baham anjing" - http://www.bharian.com.my/ bharian/articles/ Bukankenabahamanjing_/Article/ has obviously proven your wrongs! As a journalist, you have done such a disgraced to your profession by reporting a false report that might cause unlimited harms to innocent lives at wide. How could you even think of publishing a report when you have yet to confirm the authenticity of the facts? This shows how little respect you have for your job and also for the animals. It reflects your prejudice against animals, dogs in particular. To you, dogs are consider "haram" but don't forget, they too are God's creation, just like cats. Do not try to play God with your words just because you are a journalist by profession. By having you published such false report, it is enough to get some people worked-up and demand the authorities to go on a dog killing spree. Are you able to bear the consequences of the mistake done solely by you?! You deserve to be condemned by the nation!
We demand for you to publish an article of apology and have your job re-assessed again as your professionalism in handling your work is truly questionable. If no response been made known, we shall continue to highlight this matter until we get a satisfactory answer!
